Latest fiction news (please note, the fiction news is not fictional):
Summer 2009, "100 Stories Written at Work" was completed, and completed it remains. From among the 100, I adapted the beginnings of a novel, Amateurs and the Colour of Blue.
Fall 2010, I drafted a novella based on my short story, The Tenant.
Spring 2011, I wrote a middle grade novel, called The Rag Doll, based on Iris Theatre Company's Crossed Wires.
But the crown jewel of my fictional canon, the recipient of my focus, the vessel of my hopes, is my contemporary middle grade adventure called Legends of the Warrior Queen, as well as a sequel called Sir Benedict's Beliefs. At the moment, I'm looking for someone with agenty skills and expertise in the children's literary world to help me sell it... if that's you, contact me here.
And, after being rejected by a series of American MFA programs (YUCK!), I've accepted a place at Oxford! There, I shall embark on a quest to find my voice. How did I get in? To be honest, I'm not sure. Part of the process was submitting three poems, a short story and an excerpt from my kid's novel. The rest was trickery, magic and tricking magic people into helping me.
(If you don't like the fiction news , can't read or just don't believe it... take a look at my face.)
